87 and The Toys are one of Portland’s most off-the -wall upcoming artists and their new EP ‘Japanesy If You Pleasey’ pushes those boundaries even further.

The band draws upon styles from the likes of B-52’s, Daniel Johnson and Neutral Milk Hotel, while still holding onto their unique, quirky style.

Exploring topics from political issues to a love for Japanese food and a sadness for the completion of popular TV series ‘Bojack Horseman’, 87 and The Toys draw upon their creativity to create a listening experience like no other.

The group consists of Dave on stand-up bass and guitar, Hana on mini-drum kit, piano and vocals and Patrick on rhythm guitar and vocals: a unique collection of instruments providing additional layers to each track.

Highlights from the 7-track EP include the catchy “Rilakkuma County” – based on popular Japanese character Rilakkuma the Relax Time Bear – and the one of a kind indie ballad “LOVE”, sung by Hana in Japanese.

Fans of Netflix’s Bojack Horseman will love the deep psyche track ‘Bojack’ and those interested in current political issues will find interest in ‘Georgia Governor Kemp’, which discusses the attitudes of Georgia’s Governor in regards to the Covid-19 Pandemic.
