Australian breakthrough group The Bonnie Doons have already captured the interest of NME with the catchy beats from their new single ‘Fred’ which is taken from their upcoming EP ‘The Betweeners’.

The collection of 4 tracks will have you craving summer through it’s mix of 90s alternative rap and pop, addictive melodies and earworm riffs.

The group are never afraid to be to the point with their songwriting, with ‘Fred’ offering frank relationship advice and calling upon the listener to not feel guilty about ending a relationship that isn’t working out.

Sure to become a breakup anthem for lovers of laid-back indie, The Bonnie Doons are set to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Ocean Alley and GUM, capturing the hearts of fans with one effortlessly cool, bouncy indie-pop hit at a time.

Having been writing and performing together since 2017, the band have quickly proving themselves as one of Brisbane’s hardest working new acts. Putting the work in locally to get their music out there since the release of their first EP ‘Face To Face’ last year, they’re quickly beginning to build momentum across the pond in the UK, and we’re sure they won’t be stopping there.

‘Fred’ was produced by songwriter Kane Kennedy and mixed by ARIA-winning engineer Govinda Doyle, marking out the next era as The Bonnie Doons’, as they move into a new and exciting style.

Speaking of his experience working on the EP, Kane explained:

“This record was a new approach to music for me personally, we steered further from the Aussie surf-rock sound to a more pop-like 90’s vibe. I still hear similarities between this and our previous record, mainly in the guitar work, but it was ultimately Torian’s vocals that gave us the ability to pursue a different
genre and direction with the music.”

Having already had a taste of supporting larger artists such as Wolfmother and Bootleg Rascal, we’re sure you’ll be hearing The Bonnie Doons on a stage near you with a killer live show as soon as the climate allows.
